Since 1993, the FHS Education Foundation has helped FHS students have the tools needed to get the most out of their FHS years. No one can tell our impact on FHS then our own teachers.

“The FHS Choral Program received an incredible Yamaha Grand Piano from the Foundation in December of 2020. The piano has become an integral part of the day-to-day learning with students. It has offered a beautiful instrument for accompaniment, a quality instructional tool, and even sparked discussions in the mechanics behind a piano’s sound. Believe it or not, the students even named it – Apollo! Since receiving the piano, several directors have reached out over the years and asked about how we were able to get such a great instrument. I proudly tell them – the FHS Education Foundation!”

"Farragut High School offers free one-on-one afterschool peer tutoring for students taking math, chemistry, physical science, and English courses.  It is a program that creates equity and gives students both the opportunity to improve in class (those being tutored) and give back to their community through service (tutors).  Additionally, afterschool tutoring assists by taking some of the workload off of hardworking staff at the school by offering an environment for students to makeup missing work."

-Joshua Schmeling, FHS Science Teacher and Afterschool Tutoring Coordinator

"For decades the Farragut Educational Foundation has offered financial awards and assistance to FHS faculty, staff and students.  As a result, teachers can in turn purchase "state of the art" equipment and technologies for a more enriching and innovative classroom environment for their students.  Speaking for the entire FHS staff,  we are eternally grateful for the Education Foundation's generosity and highly appreciative of the numerous donations shared with our school community."

Holly Kelly, FHS Science Teacher

"The technology and software the foundation has provided my students has allowed them to explore avenues of what all goes into becoming a photographer. The students use the software and technology to tell a visual story in one photo by manipulating space, light, and composition. Without the foundation's contributions to my classroom, my students would not be able to fully experience the world of photography and everything it has to offer a visual artist."

— Morgan McClanahan, FHS Art Instructor

"Anyone who visits the library before school and throughout the day will see just how much our students love their new space. The  comfortable seating options as well as the tables with built in lights and charging stations have been a big hit. Thank you to the Foundation for giving our kids a library space that they love!"

-Holly Matthews, FHS Librarian

"Growing up in my family and in my larger family (cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents), the kitchen was where everything happened. It's where we played games. It's where we talked. It's where we danced. The idea behind the Farragut Kitchen Table was to bring that embodiment of family at the kitchen table to promote connections with students who were new to our school, had experienced a fragmented high school experience because of COVID, or were just having a hard time connecting in general. We wanted to communicate to these students that they are family, and they have a place at Farragut. "

-Andi Tenry, FHS School Counselor

"Provided in part by the Education Foundation, access to a chicken coop is a special opportunity offered by the animal science pathway. Students interested in agriculture and animal science are able to gain hands-on, practical knowledge in the field. Proper restraint techniques, diet prescriptions, and numerous other activities are examples of daily practices students employ. Because of this enclosure, students are also able to work with and handle goats. This entails diagnosing, looking after, and understanding large-animal behavior. Allowing students to work with these animals and learn from them is an excellent way to grow their passion for animal science! Additionally, we work hand in hand with plant science students who are actively engaged in growing nutritious options for our agriculture animals. "

-Taylor Watson, FHS Agriculture Teacher
